it’s completely valid and I support it! even my gf’s name is just a slight variation on her deadname. a lot of trans ppl keep the first letter of their deadname or find a similar sounding name to it because their deadname is familiar or they want to keep the aspects of it that they like! trans ppl aren’t responsible for cis ppl being stupid and thinking we all choose names the same way lol
